Florence Nightingale, from the "Women of Renown Collection", was called "Lady with the Lamp" as she continued nursing her wounded soldiers through the night. My nurse doll, Florence, carries a lamp in her right hand, carefully lifting her long dress with the other hand. Her lamp is a replica of the actual lamp used by Florence Nightingale for her night care of patients during the Crimean War. I have dressed her plainly, in navy blue and white paper twist. Her dress is seamed and she wears an unadorned, white petticoat and apron. Over her dark brown hair she wears a white scarf, fastened under her hair in the back. All my "Women of Renown" dolls are made of wood, wire, lace, doll hair, miniature accessories and paper twist ribbon. This doll is approximately 9.5" tall and her name and dates appear on the bottom.
